Barbara Nevers Burnham was born in 1925 and raised in South Windsor by her grandmother, Elizabeth Baker Nevers. At the age of 16, after the death of her great-grandfather, she moved into the house at 647 Ellington Road, where she lived until her death. She attended the one-room Pleasant Valley School, Union School, and Ellsworth Memorial High School, and graduated from Green Mountain College. At age 23, she married Russell L. Burnham, with whom she had four children. She worked for Finast Stores and at the South Windsor Child Development Center. Ms. Burnham died on April 8, 2015
