In this interview, Fred discussed his experiences living in an agricultural community dedicated to chicken, potato and tobacco farming. He related several personal and family stories including his remembrances of life in South Windsor. Fred's military service and continued dedication to local and state American Legion posts is discussed, as well as his continued volunteer service to the Soldier, Sailor and Marine Fund. Fred shared his long and diverse background involved in the Boy Scouts of America, as a boy and as an adult. His history with Boy Scouts spans serving several decades as the Troop Committee Chair and Scoutmaster of Troop 62 in South Windsor, CT and many decades on the Boy Scout Council level in various capacities. |

Fred Edlund was born 29 September 1929, the son of Fred and unnamed (Olson) Edlund, and was raised in South Windsor, CT. He attended Wapping Elementary School and Ellsworth High School. After graduating high school, Fred mentioned his employment (though not in specific detail) yet spoke of his military service during the Korean Conflict. He married Sally Moulton in 1953, and has four children and five grandchildren. |
