Known as the Elisha Bissell House, this house was built about 1750 by Matthew Sadd who sold to cousin Abiel Grant. Another source reported Elisha Bissell built house in late 1760s. The owner listed in 2006 is Clara I. Clapp. It is a two and one-half story New England Colonial Saltbox. The ridge is set parallel to the street with a massive brick chimney located centrally along the ridge. The facade is 5/5 bays wide with a central entrance. Windows are 12/12 on bottom story and 12/8 on upper story. Note: Some photographs and records refer to location as 1728 Main Street. 1732 Main Street also referred to at Station 56. |
