Orgnaizational or Biographical History |
Robert E. (Bob) Raymond was born in May of 1933 and moved to Main Street in South Windsor, CT, as a young child. Several generations of his family members have resided on East Windsor Hill, represented in 2013 by his son David and sister Carol Birden. After graduation from Kingswood School and Princeton University, he was hired by Connecticut General Life Insurance Company in the Mortgage and Real Estate area of their Investment Division. Shortly thereafter he spent two years in the anti-submarine portion of the U.S. Navy. Upon returning to Connecticut General, he became the Portfolio Manager responsible for all mortgage and real estate assets. At the age of 50, as senior real estate officer, he joined a bank holding company that evolved into SunTrust Banks, the eighth largest U.S. bank at the time. After retirement, he did some real estate consulting and arbitration, but later turned more directly to working for his family, when not exploring and/or jogging in some of the world's many interesting places. He is head of the Wood Memorial Library Association. |
