Three pages (two page form plus one other page of information.) First page lists original owner as Samuel Terry and present owner as H. Hoskins; gambrel roof; built 1762 of wood. Typed notes provide information that "S. Terry built house for bride Hulda Burnham." Hardware made in Stoughton's Iron Shop that was situated on Main Street." "Paint was made of mutton tallow and elderberry juice." Second typed paragraph from Stiles, "The History of Ancient Windsor" describes Eli Terry and his apprenticeship to Daniel Burnap and Thomas Harland. Second page is a photocopy of the house. Third page contains typed information from "Waterbury Republican" 1853 Jun 10, where son Henry tells about his father; and from "Burnap Book" that reports Eli as best apprentice of Burnap and describes Eli Terry's move to build smaller, less expensive clocks. Copy included. |
