Color photograph (3 1/2"H x 5"W) taped to page with caption "East Windsor Hill Post Office--1865 Main Street (Carol F. Shepard)." Typed notes report that the East Windsor Hill Post Office is one of the oldest continuous post offices in the United States. It is still operating in the same building it occupied when it was established in 1810. Notes from "Connecticut Post Office and Postmarks" by Arthur J. Warmsley page 202 states: 1.. East Windsor (Hartford County) established as Scantic Village 1811 Apr 1 with Aaron Bissell as first postmaster. The name was changed to East Windsor 1846 Apr 7 and discontinued 1915 Aug 31. 2. East Windsor (Hartford County) established 1819 Dec 31 with Edgar Bissell as first postmaster and discontinued 1842 May 23. 3. East Windsor Hill (Hartford County) established 1837 Mar 9.
