Typed paragraph reports the house was built in 1847 by Reverend Levi Smith who had torn down an earlier house owned by Dr. Mather and later Dr. Elijah Reed. In 1854, Dr. Sidney Rockwell bought the house. His son, James Pelton Rockwell, graduated Yale. Due to speech impediment, he gave up plans to be lawyer and crafted furniture and violins. |
