Description |
Photocopy of picture (6 1/2" x 8" on black scrap book page 8 1/2" x 11") from "The Journal Inquirer" 1970 Sep 9 with photograph of the East Windsor Hill Post Office taken from the south side. Caption paragraph states this is "one of the oldest in the United States" and "has continuously served the area for 160 years." Aaron Bissell began as the first post master in 1810; Betsy Addington serves currently. The photograph does show the old Bissell Tavern and horse barn which are no longer there. The Tavern was a stagecoach stop. Upper floor housed a dance hall. |
