Known as the "Levi Smith House" and the "Smith/Rockwell House" because it was built in 1847 for Reverend Elijah "Levi" Smith, pastor of the First Congregational Church and later sold to Dr. Sidney Rockwell. The house is two and one-half story Greek Revival style house with gable end facing the street. Facade is three bays wide with double-height windows on the first story beneath the wrap-around porch. Previous owners were Dr. Mather and Dr. Reed; subsequent owners were Dr, Sidney Rockwell. James Rockwell, Anna Gaylord Rockwell, James Rockwll, B, F, Risley, Anton Karanek, Charles and Ann Keen, John and Mary Habit. Information on Rev. Levi, Dr.Mather, Dr. Reed, and Dr. Rockwell are included. |
