There is information about Bossen's store also known as Foster Parmelee House. The building was built by Benjamin Skinner on his lot at 1042 Main Street, and it was the original post office. Between 1855 and 1869, D. J. Foster moved the building to present location and a grandson ran the store until 1862. The next owner, Horace E. Parmelee, started a general store; Peter Bossen ran store 1904-1962; and son Robert ran the store until 1974. The building was taken over by Inspiration House with Mrs. Robert Bossen (Betty) and Winston O. Abbott. A horse barn in back of the store was used by the Baptist Church. Round stone step is scalloped and possibly is from tanners wheel. Store and building purchased by Shepard Corporation in 1985. |
